About Synchronized Skating
The Synchronized Skating program introduces skaters to a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform a program together. It is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations and challenging step sequences. The IFFSC holds “try-outs” at the beginning of the season to determine interest in the program. Depending on the number and age/level of interested skaters, the Club may have two teams. Synchronized skaters must be committed to attending every practice and will attend the Moorhead competition in addition to performing at the Winter Exhibition and our annual Ice Show.
Registration for Synchronized Skating occurs after the try-outs. There is a $TBD registration fee (which includes competition entry fees) associated with Synchronized Skating. Other expenses incurred by the skaters include the purchase of a team jacket, a black practice skirt, tights, and a costume and hotel/travel costs to attend the competitions.
Synchronized skating is offered to skaters in Basics 4 though Senior Club. All skaters in these levels are encouraged to try out for the team(s).
