Regular General Membership Meeting Notice
The IFFSC Board of Directors announces the scheduling of the Club’s Regular (Annual) General Membership meeting on Monday, June 13th, 2022 at 6:00pm at Kootasca, 2232 2nd Ave e. Per the Club’s bylaws, the General Membership meeting will be for the purpose of election of members to the Board of Directors due to the expiration of terms or other vacancy, and transaction of business as may properly come before the Meeting.
The Board of Director’s have appointed an Election Committee consisting of three Board Members who are not up for re-election. The Election Committee Members are Stacy Robar and Sarah Morin. There are 13 vacancies on the IFFSC Board of Directors.
The Election Committee will accept nominations for the voting ballot by email to stacy_robar@hotmail.com or sweet_momma81@yahoo.com (preferred method) or by mail to IFFSC Election Committee, PO Box 1129, International Falls, MN 56649. Nominations must be received in writing by June 11th, 2022.
Who’s eligible to be nominated for the Board of Directors?
Any candidate or nominee must be a General Member in good standing. Members are those families or individuals who completed an application for membership during the specified registration time in September 2021. The Election Committee reserves the right to determine the membership status of all nominees.
How does voting occur?
Voting will occur by secret ballot at the June 13th meeting. The Election Committee will tabulate the results and announce the new Board of Directors at the June 13th meeting. Per the bylaws, in the event that candidates for any one vacancy shall receive an equal number of votes, a re-vote shall be taken at the same annual meeting to determine a winner.
Who is allowed to vote?
Per the bylaws, each family who registers a skater or skaters with the Club, shall have one vote as a senior member per family. Interested adults, without children registered in the Club, may pay the USFSA fee at registration time and be entitled the right to vote as senior members. [Note: Registration occurred in September 2021. No new members can register until the next season which begins July 1, 2022.]
How do I vote absentee?
Members can request an absentee ballot in writing by sending a request via email to stacy_robar@hotmail.com (preferred method) or by mail to IFFSC Election Committee, PO Box 1129, International Falls, MN 56649. Requests for absentee ballots must be received by June 1st, 2022. Instructions for completion and return of the ballot will accompany the absentee ballot.
Role of a Board Member:
Board members are expected to do the following:
- Attend monthly meetings and special meetings. Special meetings tend to occur around Ice Show and registration. If a Board Member misses three consecutive board meetings without approval of the Board of Directors, he/she is defined as withdrawing from the Board of Directors.
- Chair and/or be a member of a standing committee and at least one ice show committee.
- Actively participate in meetings.
Per the bylaws, Board Members must first serve as a Board Member for at least one year before being elected to an executive position with the exception of recording secretary (e.g. president, treasurer, etc.).
